Home Repair Loan

Apply for a home repair loan through the Portland Housing Bureau. This program provides 0% interest loans up to $40,000 for necessary home repairs and improvements. The loan is forgiven after 15 years if the home remains owner-occupied. This program is currently only available to homeowners within the Interstate Corridor Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District. Applicants must have household income at or below 120% Area Median Income (AMI) and combined liquid assets of $20,000 or less.

Geographic Restriction

IMPORTANT: This home repair loan is currently only available to homeowners within the Interstate Corridor Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District in North/Northeast Portland. If your property is not within this district, you may not be eligible. Contact the Portland Housing Bureau to confirm your property's eligibility.

Loan Terms: 0% interest; up to $40,000 maximum; no monthly payments (deferred); loan is forgiven after 15 years if the home remains your owner-occupied primary residence. Income limit: up to 120% Area Median Income (AMI). Liquid assets must not exceed $20,000 (excluding home equity, vehicles, and retirement accounts).
