Request the planting of a free street tree in the public right-of-way adjacent to your property. Portland Urban Forestry manages the selection and planting of trees in planting strips and tree wells throughout the city. This is a FREE service -- there is no cost to the property owner.

Free Street Tree Planting Program

  • Portland's Free Street Trees program plants trees at no cost to property owners.
  • Trees are planted by city contractors who also provide 3 years of maintenance after planting.
  • After 3 years, the property owner is responsible for ongoing watering and care.
  • The city also reaches out to neighborhoods through notification letters, but you can sign up any time through this form.
